Everytime i try to install anti virus is says its not a proper win 32 file?

i cant get any updates from windows and no anti virus program works any more,how do i solve this?

I know this is the answer that the uninformed go for first, but if you are serious that automatic updates and your firewall are being turned off mysteriously and you are sure its nothing you are doing then unfortunately it may be that you have picked up a fairly clever virus.



If it does run it without connecting to the web.



Now another reason for your AV not installing with the not a win32 file message is that it may have been corrupted during downloaded. It happens sometimes when ISP cache's get messed-up. For safety sake (in case you do have a virus) go to a friends and download an AV and save it on a cd/dvd/USBdrive. Install from that when not connected to the internet and see if that install works.



Short of that you may be looking at a format and re-install of windows.

Maybe you're trying to install a 64bit version and not the 32bit version.
