a friend of mine has no anti-virus and i am trying to find something that is good and actually works that is free. something that doesnt have a trial is much preferred. thank you so much and i really hope he can get some help as he does not know much about computers and did not even know such thing is necessary he is currently using windows 2000

ive used norton for, like, ever, and its very good at protecting from viruses

You're going to have to either choose "top quality" or "free". It won't be both. Most of the anti-virus programs that I know of don't even make updates for Windows 2000 anymore.
